Groundhog Day (el día de la marmota) es una simpática tradición estadounidense según la cual se puede predecir supuestamente la duración del invierno. La marmota (en inglés groundhog, o ground squirrel, o woodchuck) despierta de su hibernación el dos de febrero ( Groundhog Day). Si hace sol, el animal se asusta al ver su propia sombra y vuelve a su madriguera durante otras seis semanas, lo cual indica que el invierno será más largo.
